西蓮淨苑行

因著中道社跟晨曦社要到三峽的西蓮淨苑參訪
今年的中秋節沒有返家
而是和三位學長一起到淨苑和僧眾度過這個傳統節慶

這是從我比較認真學佛以來
第一次踏進佛教寺院
雖然在行前已經先了解淨苑的歷史傳承
也知道淨苑的現任住持是惠敏和尚
[法師也是法鼓佛教學院的現任校長]
但礙於以前對台灣中國佛教傳承下的部分出家眾有些不好的印象
心裡還是會擔心
不過這點罣礙在見到淨苑的法師們就煙消雲散了
相當老實誠懇的修行人:)
從法師們言行舉止散發出來的慈悲
讓人有一種可以安穩地依止的感覺
過去從教理研習或是閱讀高僧行誼
雖能讓我肯定何以僧伽是值得皈依的三寶之一
但都比不上直接面對一個有修行的僧眾時
內心的感動與震撼

禮佛與熟悉寺院環境後
是聽住持和尚惠敏法師的開示
法師的開示深入淺出切中要點
從中獲益不少

晚齋前參加了淨苑的晚課
這是我這輩子第一次和四眾弟子一同在大殿中課誦
在莊嚴穆肅的音聲中再一次生起了強烈的感動
不可思議的是
這種表相上看似強烈的情感卻能返照出內在的寧靜自在

晚齋後是淨苑的中秋「千江晚會」
這名字是值得細細思量的
在這裡我引永嘉證道歌作註──
一性圓通一切性　一法遍含一切法
一月普現一切水　一切水月一月攝
[聽說雲門的水月跟這有一點關係？]
很佩服淨苑的大專念佛會的學長們
能在看似喧鬧的表演與活動中還能帶出佛法
相當不容易
沒料到晚會竟會以阿姜查的禪修世界作結
真是法喜充滿的一天:)

晚上宿於大殿佛正下方的男眾居士寮
雖然睡得不是很好但是相當安穩

三點半聞打板聲起身作簡單的梳洗
喜見天上明月皎潔
在天候不佳的北部能見到月亮　一樂也
能與許多有修行的僧眾度佳節　二樂也
累劫得來的不可思議因緣

上大殿禮佛後
於位置上坐定等待早課的開始
望著微笑的佛陀
啊　這真是修行的好地方與好時機
淨苑屬淨宗法脈
早課中念佛繞佛佔了相當比例
但還是有一炷香的止靜
這也讓我發現把念佛作為打坐的前行功課是相當不錯的

早齋後跟法師們一起出坡
替淨苑的午齋做準備
[雖然我們並沒有要留下來過中午]
寺院的生活比我以前認知的還要忙碌

離去之前
我們到淨苑的開山和尚智諭師父的紀念館
聽師父的開示選輯
雖然多所引用經文但並不會讓人有生澀之感
最後是小小的一段寺院後方山徑經行
微雨中穿梭樹叢並討論義理
別有一番滋味

今天中午在馬鈴薯咖哩吃飯時
聽到蕭煌奇的「愛這首歌」
深受音樂和歌聲中的真摯感動
到實驗室以後憑著聽到的歌詞片段把這首歌找了出來
聽說這是去年金曲獎
最佳台語男演唱人的最佳台語專輯中的最佳作曲
However,

The Foundations of Buddhism

趁尊者來台的殊勝因緣
推薦賴老師新近翻譯的著作《佛教基本通》

Rupert Gethin所作的這本The Foundations of Buddhism
以簡要清晰的筆法引領讀者正確理解佛法僧三寶及戒定慧三學
根據當代的學術研究成果來釐清佛教不同部派的發展
又能回歸基礎教義來理出隱含其中的佛學根本核心
可使初學者避免因視域不足而產生偏執或不當批判
BTW,
這本書解行並重
在進階義理與修行實踐上的著墨較一般入門書來得多
因此對佛教史、佛教哲學、佛學實踐有興趣的
以這本書為primer應能開展出一條通往智慧的道路:)

賴老師的譯文堪稱暢達
但因為採用了許多傳統的中文名相來譯專有名詞
有些地方對於初機者而言可能仍過於難解
此外
以下是我認為有誤譯而易使讀者錯解之處
提出來供大家參考──

1. 第115頁倒數第四行，根據原著應該譯為
"這個體驗不是「無有」(a nothing)──僅僅沒有貪嗔痴而已──而是所謂的「無為」(unconditioned)"

2. 第139頁最後一段，因為一般人對幸福的理解可能較為粗淺，所以這邊未仔細定義或區分「功德」和「福德」兩個名相，容易使人誤判佛教精神生活的核心

3. 第143頁第四行，根據原著此處的「僧伽成功」是名詞，指上述僧制的成功(the success of monastic Sangha)

4.第284頁第五行，根據原著應譯成
"因為經驗主體(所謂的「能執」)與經驗對象(所謂的「所執」)..."

這回的《玉簪記》在藝術和思想上的表現
對我而言真的是amazing
演員的眼神唱腔動作、
服裝舞台和燈光設計、
背景音樂書畫的律動、
戲目意境和整體結構......

更讓我驚嘆的是
在生動逗趣的對戲背後竟然可以潛藏如此深刻的衝突與辯證
[黃武雄老師在課堂閒聊中曾論及中國缺少辯證的傳統
我當時對這樣的想法就深感懷疑
看了《玉簪記》之後更讓我確信這樣的說法有再斟酌的必要]

不過值得注意的是
《玉簪記》原著為明代的傳奇
明清小說對佛教大多存有誤解而且持貶抑的態度
[一個例子是"尼姑"這個有貶意的詞
這樣的稱呼應該就是元明之際出現的
而到現在一般人還是這樣用
上面的比丘尼維基條目裡頭還有三姑六婆的框框...]
高濂的原著也不例外
而來到了現代
錯誤的理解還是繼續存在
無論是楊聰財醫師的這篇〈玉簪記裡的天使與魔鬼〉
還是張淑香老師在《色膽包天玉簪記》裡頭的〈聖俗色空的辯證〉
都對佛學義理跟實踐有不正確的論斷跟詮釋
而楊醫師對佛教的發展與演進還作了時序倒置的理解
[奚淞的〈護花使者〉是我認為寫得比較好的
BTW,從奚淞的眾多作品可以感受得到其修行體悟有相當的境界:)]

是俗是聖
不是從表相可以評斷的
聖俗之間
也非兩相對立的境界
然而
色不異空空不異色色即是空空即是色
絕非模糊流動妥協
這樣深刻的見地
不經精進的修行是無從了悟的

學期還不到一半
但曾德明老師其人與這門課已經打破很多記錄了
不得不提一下

接觸佛學是很早的事情了
大概跟接觸道德經、莊子是同一時期
(也就是國小三年級左右XD)
不過也僅於
興致來時翻閱圖書館或手邊非常有限的經典或注疏
遇到比較大的困頓(不限於我自身的)會持經念誦發願回向

我國中快畢業時跟同學A走的法華經
及其後同學乾脆整套送我的普行法師全集──
金剛經、楞伽經、成唯識論、大乘止觀法門啟蒙、淨土指歸
這些才是比較有系統接觸佛學的開始
但過去六年時間有限
仍沒有得到很好的體悟跟啟發

我對佛學很有興趣
不過曾老師這門課上學期才開始在台大開課
PTT上討論不多
加之西藏佛教真的很繁複
看了課程大綱後更是有嚇到的感覺
所以課選上後決定看第一次上課的情形再決定要不要修
However,種種因緣
第一次上課就committed第二週上台做個小報告
所以課就修定了XD

第二週上台報告跟老師接過麥克風時
老師說我的手是冷的...
當時他也沒有多講什麼
不過也因為他什麼都沒講
更顯出一種高深莫測的感覺XD

老師第三個禮拜就記得我的名字了
在那麼大的通識課上
我真的還滿感動的

雖然說老師到現在大概已經叫得出三四十人的名字了吧@@

之後每節課就常常被老師叫上台寫中文字...
(第一次他有問過我會不會寫藏文XD)
因此截止至昨天已創下另一個記錄
[record 2:在台大七個學期以來叫我名字最多次的老師]
上上禮拜老師說叫我寫字的原因是──
我的字看起來有修行者的味道:)
昨天新版的原因是我血液循環不好orz...

不過老師叫我寫字的次數實在太頻繁了

上禮拜還特別跟全班澄清　他不會因為這樣加我分(也不會扣我分)

其實促成我po這篇的最後一根稻草是
我昨天上課前在(新生大樓)教室外面
看著樓下來來往往的行人跟腳踏車想一些有點大的問題時
老師走過來問我在想什麼
T^T我真的完完全全被感動到了

不過重點是
這是我第一次跟別人學習佛學思想與實踐
And I do learn a lot!
對空的體悟跟破除我執有了很大的突破

下學期不衝堂的話我會再來旁聽

我想我剛剛度過了三年多來最快樂的一個半小時:)

Quite a good work!
學過更多數學後
來看這系列文章當能有豁然開朗的感覺
初學者閱讀之
應該能對微積分或基礎分析中重要的概念有更好的掌握

痞子英雄 Black & White

去年底今年初有了光陰的故事
沒想到今年還有痞子英雄:)

就節奏感跟故事背後的哲學而言
痞子英雄應該是勝出的

這部戲丟出了很多並不簡單的議題
最核心且貫串整部戲的就是
在這個世界中的人事物沒有一個能被完整地分到
是非善惡正義邪惡
這些人人以為可以一刀劃成兩半相當clear-cut的概念的其中一邊

從小念儒家的經典長大
我一直很堅持我的是非原則跟公義[可能到現在還是？！(笑)]
這點跟吳英雄很像
也是因為這樣
國中那三年我受到的傷害跟衝擊很大[舊blog談危險心靈時有點到一些]
從一個與世無爭的鄉下小學校進到彰化兩個國中數理資優班其中之一
有太多事情是我不習慣跟難以忍受的
小團體、猜忌、背後中傷甚至實質的物理性傷害......
加諸在我身上的我可以默默承受
但是最讓我看不過去的就是考試作弊這件事
這讓別人辛苦的努力不能得到他們應有的rewards
而不付出血汗的卻能坐享稱讚跟榮耀
破壞了公平與正義
當時常和幾個想法相同的同學義憤填膺地討論著
我也深信小時候會作弊出社會了一樣會幹壞事情
不過終究沒有跟老師舉發那些被我們記錄到的人
矛盾的是
後來我竟然會和裡頭許多人成為好朋友
而且發現他們也有良善的地方
However,
當時我並沒有更深入地思索到底善惡是什麼

但我也要承認
縱使我堅持我的是非原則
我還是要面對我自己身上的黑暗面
跟吳英雄一樣:)
這輩子我拿過三次不該拿的分數
小二有次國語考卷有個字我不會寫
我抄了同學丟給我的紙條上的答案
國一考認識台灣社會篇
我不確定民進黨是哪年創的(XD)
剛好轉頭時看到同學的考卷上答案跟我的不一樣
我把我的答案改掉結果對了
高三有次我默許數學小老師把我的小考分數登記得比較高
呵
或許我比吳英雄糟
吳英雄到26歲才第一次壞了他自己的原則呢

高中畢業時
Charlie送我的小卡片上寫著
這世界上沒有東西是純的
說真的高中三年和Charlie不算太熟
Chaelie會這樣寫
不是我的personality表現得太strong
[大概像吳英雄這樣吧──
吳英雄：黑的就是黑的，白的就是白的，
你在染缸裡待久了，白的都會變成黑的╰(╬￣皿￣)╯]
就是Charlie看人的功力很高

身為一個人
處在這個世界
就要面對環境的陰暗角落
以及正視自己的黑暗面

周遭的闇黑或許我們無力解決
但心中的幽微卻是值得努力讓它散發光亮的
如果要說宗教存在的目的
各大宗教的核心應該都在這裡
佛學如此天主基督宗教也是如此
從有限走向無限
正如片頭曲無賴正義中說的
如果生命真的有極限 (沒有極限)
我會衝破所有的界限 (沒有界限)
不過這不是條好走的道路

再來談吳洋檢察官在第22集說的話吧
最深的黑暗，往往來自最光明的地方
在這個世界上有個龐大的集團，他們操縱許多國家的政治和經濟
他們為所欲為的玩著一種金錢的遊戲，以億為單位
五億、十億、一百億、一千億
他們為了達到目的，不惜在每個地方製造意外、製造戰爭
從連環車禍、到大樓火災
從人為爆炸、到恐怖攻擊
人們越是害怕，他們越能利用人們的恐懼
買更多的軍火，賺更多的錢

第一次用心思考恐懼跟集體心理或集體意識
應該就是讀Michael Crichton的State of Fear的時候
而大一寫2001: A Global History和讀Imagined Community的經驗
讓我的想法更加成熟也對這樣的操作更加小心
這也是為什麼起初我完全不支持反波蘭醫生行動的主要原因

念了十幾年的儒家經典
修過一整年的基本倫理學
深入幾個月的佛學義理實踐
但看痞子英雄的過程中
還是讓我產生了一些疑惑
重新思考了光亮和黑暗的問題
痞子英雄真的很成功:)
