當兵當修行

很久以前，在晨曦社板上看過文威學長講軍中環境是不算小的逆緣；
當我還在台大而為晋先跑去當兵之時，為晋也是如此認為。
不過一直到正式踏進這個環境前我還是認為有辦法克服，
即使升碩二以來某些因素把持續有一段時日的工夫打斷了。

經過新訓這八週，
我才體會到有些心境甚至言行若不是有深刻的底子是很難轉化掉的，
還好在部隊裡選擇不碰葷食，讓某些起伏的可能性消失了，
不然應該要花很久的時間才能恢復吧。

儘管如此，其實我還滿喜歡入伍訓單純的生活，
嗯，還有五班與六班的大家，讓我這八週大部份時間都是在歡笑中度過，
不過最後一星期全連流行模仿李榮森喊換手讓我一直狂笑，
害我在其他人的腦海中除了狀況外之外，還多了笑點極低的刻板印象⋯

到北投後，即使有很多很多事情要準備，
還是要找個時間回山上，另外也應該到農禪寺跟雲來寺走走，
兩座寺院都離政戰學校不到兩公里，不去拜訪實在說不過去。

Ajahn Chah跟Ajahn Sumedo的這個故事
（摘自奚淞老師的〈看，那飄落的葉片〉），
應該可以做為當兵當修行的參考吧！

……午後的陽光炙熱，比丘蘇美多掃除林地落葉，心裡不禁焦躁起來。

出家不久的他，滿懷追求開悟的熱忱，來到阿姜查主持的森林寺院——巴蓬寺。待了一段時日，他發現這裡的修行生活圍繞於清理環境、挑水、打掃落葉等單調寺務上。

看看，昨天掃過的地面，今天又滿鋪落葉；就算今天掃乾淨，明日又待如何？「我是來攻讀佛學和修行的，如今我竟在毫無目的的掃落葉……」比丘蘇美多怨忿地想： 「我的聰明、才智，都在這裡白白耗費了！」他開始覺得一切都令人厭惡，法師不好、比丘教育不足，他也怨恨太陽、怨恨落葉，討厭一切的一切……他氣惱地持竹帚嘩嘩刮掃地面，激得枯葉泥塵四散紛飛。

驀地，他發現阿姜查竟站立眼前，什麼時候走來的也不知道。

「苦在哪兒？在巴蓬寺苦嗎？」阿姜查裂開他那著名的、把圓臉橫切成上下兩截的笑容，向蘇美多拋下一句問話。然後，法師悠然轉身、穿越林間小徑走開，留下持帚怔立的蘇美多。

「苦嗎？剛才確實是滿心煩惱啊！」比丘蘇美多捉摸法師突兀的問話，心想：「可是，這一打斷，剛才的苦究竟跑到哪裡去了？苦，是什麼在苦？巴蓬寺不苦，掃地也不算苦。那麼，製造一大堆牢騷和怨恨的又是誰？」

經阿姜查一句話點醒，比丘蘇美多直下看到了自己的心。

重新掃地的他，動作減慢、兩手使力也均勻了。午後的樹林寂靜，沙沙的竹帚觸地聲，把他帶入平寧的正念觀照中。落葉撇掃成堆，而他的心，正像那經清掃而敞露出的泥沙地，平整、清爽，有著脈絡分明的竹帚掃痕……
